Attention Bucket Time
Here at Puffins, we often sit down with small groups of children for something that is called Attention Bucket time.
Attention Bucket time is an activity which aims to develop children's shared attention skills in a group setting, thought up by Gina Davies.
We have found this activity especially useful and beneficial to the children and so we wanted to share it with you.
It is often used for children with special educational needs, but we have found it beneficial to all our children at Puffins.
The children sit in front of their teacher who has a bucket full of interesting objects, they will show an item from the bucket and the children will need to practice patience as not every child gets to hold the object on each turn.
It aims to support children's attention skills, helping them to develop and maintain focus for longer periods of time.
Below are some photos and a video from a bucket time that took place recently within Puffins.
This activity can be done anywhere, you just need a pot and a few objects to talk about and engage the children with!
