At Puffin’s your child will benefit from an environment that will encourage them to develop as an individual. We will provide a range of activities that follow the Early Years statutory framework and the Birth to Five Matters framework to suit the ability of each child; supporting them through their learning and helping them to build foundations of practises that will prepare them for their transition into a school environment.
We encourage the children to have time each day to explore the outdoors, no matter what the weather! We will do this through multiple daily walks each day. We are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by lots of lovely woodland to walk through, a large playing field, several parks and a peaceful village. These things make our walks varied and engaging for the children and offer many opportunities to explore the world around them.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experience between birth and age five have a major impact on their future. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that we must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives the children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
The Birth to Five Framework has been created by the Early Years Coalition to support Early Years Practitioners develop their practice and support children to effectively grow in this modern age. It is still encouraged that Practitioners use this document along with their own professional knowledge to help guide children's learning and development appropriately.
The EYFS seeks to provide quality and consistency in early years settings, a secure foundation through learning, partnership between practitioners and parents and equality of opportunity; ensuring that every child is included and supported.
The EYFS specifies requirements for learning and development and for safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
